David Warkentin

I am David Warkentin, a post-secondary educator who lives and works on the Stó:lō territory of the Máthxwi and Semá:th First Nations, also known as Abbotsford, BC, Canada.

As a teacher and researcher in Fraser Valley higher education, I view education as connection with people, place, and experience. I engage creative, student-centered curriculum and pedagogy that combines reflective engagement, interdisciplinary study, and experiential learning. Drawing from critical place-based and Indigenous land-based education, I am passionate about the ways integrated curriculum can foster connection for students in their own lives and in their relationship to the people and places of their education.

This site gives a window into my own journey of connection as a teacher and researcher. Welcome!
